Sunan's Owl Report – Entrance to Central Park

The entrance to Espoo Central Park, decorated with animal figures from the Sunan myth. Take Riimukallionpolku for a self-guided day trip.

The Sunan Owl Gate is one of the six entrances to Espoo Central Park decorated with animal figures. You can reach the gate via the Riimukallionpolku hiking trail on the south side of Suna. It serves as the starting point for a self-guided day trip along the forested trails of Central Park. The approximately 880-hectare park features a mix of coniferous forests, rocky ridges, meadows, and marshes. The city’s current promotional material invites visitors to explore the area and go on mushroom and berry-picking excursions in the fall. Choose a trail suitable for your fitness level and the weather, and follow the trail markers. According to the city’s current hiking brochure, Central Park is a day-trip destination: camping and open fires are not permitted. Stay on the marked trails, keep your dog on a leash outside the dog park, and take your trash with you. Mountain bikes and motorized vehicles are prohibited in nature reserves. The map marker indicates the approach route to the gate; the city’s designated gate sign is approximately 35 meters to the northwest. The gate is not a staff service point, and there are no set weekly opening hours for it. The phone number is the contact number provided by the city for Espoo Central Park.
