Sky Rock
A rocky park in Käpylä featuring anti-aircraft gun emplacements from the war years and a sealed cannon. Take a self-guided walk in the area between Pohjolankatu and Panuntie.
Taivaskallio is a park and a high rocky area located in Käpylä, Helsinki. The hill, which rises within the area bounded by Pohjolankatu, Panuntie, the main railway line, and Käpyläntie, reaches a height of about 60 meters. The site combines urban nature with military history: at the top of the cliff are the positions of the Taivas heavy anti-aircraft battery, which operated from 1939 to 1944, and a single sealed anti-aircraft gun. You can explore the area on a self-guided park walk, taking the terrain into account. Accessibility and winter maintenance have not been confirmed. The phone number is for the City of Helsinki Urban Environment Department’s customer service regarding the maintenance of parks and green spaces.
