The beautiful red-brick building of the Tampere Art Museum has stood on the edge of Pyynikintori since 1838. The former grain warehouse, now an art museum, opened to the public in 1931.

Major changes are underway at the nearly 100-year-old art museum, as it is finally getting a new main building next to the granary. The art museum building closed to the public on June 14, 2026, due to renovation and new construction. The art museum will reopen in its new form at the turn of the year 2029–2030.

During the renovation, the art museum will host temporary exhibitions in various locations throughout the city. For example, the Young Artist of the Year is selected and showcased annually. Stay tuned for updates from the museum!
