The play *When the Sun Fell* is set in motion by an unusual event that instantly wipes out both daylight and modern means of communication. As a result of this inexplicable phenomenon, a group of people from very different backgrounds finds themselves gathered together in the yard of a remote house. With the exception of a family of four, no one knows each other beforehand, but in this extraordinary situation, they have no choice but to work together. To communicate and encounter another person face-to-face, without the protection offered by digital communication tools.

At the heart of the play is Mikko Kuustonen’s magnificent music, which carries Veera Tyhtilä’s strikingly insightful story. The play *When the Sun Fell* features about twenty of Kuustonen’s songs. In addition to his biggest hits, the setlist includes many lesser-known gems, and may even feature previously unreleased material.

The cast features Mikkeli Theater’s own actors (Tuuli Anikari, Alma-Ruut Karjalainen, Marjaana Manninen, Riina Uimonen, Benjamin Klemettinen, Risto Kopperi, and Vintte Viitanen) along with one guest performer (Aapo Oranen), accompanied by a four-piece band led by Juho Puikkonen. Tuomas Kesälä is responsible for the musical arrangements and rehearsals. The world premiere of *When the Sun Fell* is directed by Pekka Laasonen.
