Come to Paula, the hostess of Okkola’s, blueberry bun workshop! You’ll also get a glimpse into an authentic Finnish archipelago home.

The Savonian blueberry cake combines the berry-picking culture characteristic of the Savo region with the versatile use of rye, rooted in the ancient tradition of slash-and-burn farming.
Let’s bake authentic Savonian blueberry buns together, share stories, and enjoy them together at the end. We’ll bake blueberry buns—also known as rättänöitä—in the beautiful setting of an 18th-century log cabin. We’ll start by making the dough together, then shape it into the base, sides, and lid of the basket. We’ll fill the dough with blueberries and bake the cakes.

This workshop is perfect for both beginners and more experienced bakers looking to hone their skills.

Finally, we’ll enjoy tea or coffee and eat Savonian blueberry pies together, served with vanilla sauce. You’ll take home the recipe and the skills to make your own blueberry pies!
